Parent Handbook Scholarship Application
SNACK SHOP – Children get to visit the Snack Shop almost every day while they are at camp. They will go with their cabin group and be able to enjoy a treat. Snack Shop money can be paid in advance when you register or at check in. Campers will not be able to pay with cash. The Snack Shop money will be converted into a card where we will keep track of what your child spends. At the end of the week if there is any money left we will refund it to your child. Most treats are between $.50-$2.00. In addition, we sell clothing, souvenirs, toys, and jewelry. These items range in price from $3.00-$35.00. A usual visit to the Snack Shop consists of 1 drink (soda, juice, water) and 1 treat (ice cream bar, candy bar). We try to provide some healthier snacks as well. The Snack Shop will be open after the Parent Show for the camper’s families to get a treat as well.
SWIMMING – No swimming is allowed in Camp Li-Wa Lake currently because of its condition. We will have water games.
CABIN BUDDY REQUESTS – During registration you may request a cabin buddy for your camper. Please do so at least a week in advance of when camp starts. We will do our best to honor your request if it is logistically possible.
PHOTOGRAPHS – Many pictures of campers are taken throughout the week. It is our assumption that most parents love to see their children in camp brochures and slide shows. If you do not wish your child’s picture to be taken, please notify the office in writing.
COSTS AND REFUNDS – A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at registration. This will hold your child’s spot for camp. The remaining balance is due at or before check in. If your child is not able to attend camp, you can receive a refund, less the deposit.
PRE-CAMP FACILITY TOUR – This will be an opportunity for parent/campers to meet our staff and become familiar with the camp facilities. Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 10:00 am to Noon.
CAMP REGISTRATION — To register for camp you can register online or call 907.457.6059 during our office hours. We have changed registration systems. You can access registration from our website under the Program you wish the camper to attend. Registration requires a non-refundable $50 deposit. The remaining balance must be paid no later than two weeks prior to the camp session. During the registration process you will have the option to add money to your snack shop account (campers are not able to use cash in the snack shop). During the registration process you will need to have health information available.
HEALTH — A certified health care provider is on site to address the health and safety concerns of each camper and to observe medication distribution. Medication must come to camp in the doctor prescribed bottle with clear instructions from your doctor. Li-Wa’s insurance policy covers every camper as secondary coverage. Your family insurance policy applies first for any medical needs. A number of staff members are trained in First Aid and CPR.
MEDICATIONS — If your camper needs to take medications at camp you must turn them in when you register to the camp nurse. All over the counter and non-prescription drugs remain in the ORIGINAL CONTAINER. All prescription medications must be in a PHARMACY LABELED container with the campers name on it. Loose pills will not be accepted.
OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS: Li-Wa typically offers the following non-prescription medications on an as-needed basis. By law we must use our own supply. Please notify us of any medications you DO NOT want given to your child.

PARENTAL PICK UP – To ensure your child’s safety, only the camper’s parent/guardian may pick him/her up at the end of camp or for an early departure. If you desire a friend or relative to give your child a ride, Camp Li-Wa must receive a letter – signed by the camper’s parent/guardian – stating the name of the adult who is authorized to pick up the child and when the child should be released into his/her care. You may email this information to firstname.lastname@example.org or turn it in personally. Every visitor must check-in at the office and all campers leaving the premises during camp time will need to be signed out at the office. We understand that sometimes children will need to be picked up for sporting or other events in the afternoon. If you need to pickup for evening activites, you must pick up between 5:00-6:00 p.m. Campers may return the following morning at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast.
